Jimmy and his class were going to the Natural History Museum for their field trip. Jimmy couldn’t wait! His teacher, Ms. Pearl, had told them that there were many cool things, including a dinosaur exhibit and even a rock from the moon! When they got there, Jimmy jumped off the bus and ran to the dinosaur exhibit.
In his rush, Jimmy didn’t see the “Caution: Wet Floor” sign and slipped on it. His arms went flying, knocking down a dinosaur fossil, which crashed into the replica of a T-Rex, which came spilling down on a very expensive necklace. Jimmy looked down at the mess he had created and stared at the diamond necklace in shock. Jimmy had to fix this, and fast, before he got caught. Jimmy decided that he should ask his friend John to help him.
Jimmy found John glued to the rock from the moon. It did look pretty tempting but he didn’t have time for that. Jimmy snapped John back into reality and quickly spilled out everything that happened. John agreed to help him only if he gave him a bag full of candy. Jimmy reluctantly agreed and they set off to the dinosaur exhibit together. When they got there, John looked at the mess shocked.
“How are we going to fix this?!” He exclaimed.
They decided that first, they should pick up the dinosaur fossil. They carefully lifted the fossil and returned it to its correct shelf adjusting it to look like nothing had ever happened. The boys heard footsteps clomping towards them and they quickly hid behind the shelf. They were the footsteps of an angry looking guard who sensed something was off. He checked everywhere before unsurely slipping off into the other room. Jimmy and John released their breaths of relief that they had been holding. Whew! They hadn’t been caught!
Then they tried to put together the replica of the T-Rex. Jimmy and John tried every possible way they could think of but they couldn’t figure it out. John found a T-Rex manual book. They hastily rushed through the book but one of the pages fell out. Jimmy found a disgusting, used piece of gum which they used to stick the page back to its correct spot in the book. They finally found what they were looking for, the page with the parts of the T-Rex. They reassembled the broken pieces back into a messy replica of a T-Rex. Good enough. Then the boys carefully lifted it up and placed it onto the place it was marked to go.
Jimmy grabbed the necklace and placed it in the “LOST AND FOUND”.
They returned to the bus and found the students piling back into it. Just in time, they thought. Ms. Pearl looked pretty mad, she hadn’t figured out what had happened…right?!
When they finally got back home Jimmy’s mom looked pretty mad too. Uh-Oh, maybe their teacher had figured out what they had done, and told their moms!
“Jimmy, I did not expect this of you.” His mom said disappointingly.
“I’m sorry Mom, it was an accident, and I fixed it in time, ” Jimmy replies, guiltiness filling inside him.
His mom stared at Jimmy confusedly.
“What are you talking about?” She asks him with a stern expression. “I’m disappointed in you for getting a C on your project.
“Ohhhh, yeah” maybe his mom hadn’t figured out what had happened after all.
“What were you talking about- Oh-no you didn’t do something, did you?” His mom asks worriedly.
“N-N-No, not at all. I was just saying that…..ummm….I could…try to…bring my grade up again” He stammers relieved that his mom didn’t know.
“Try your best!” His mom says hugging him.
That’s what he liked about his mom, she forgave him SO easily, one second she’s yelling at him, the other, she’s hugging him and complimenting him.
Oh and, Jimmy never told John, but he never gave him the bag of candy he promised!
