Mya, a girl in armor. At least, that’s what everyone said. Mya is a 14 year old girl, very intelligent with brown hair and blue eyes. She is adored by everyone. She is heir to the throne, but never was interested in the throne. She was lonely growing up since her mom and dad were always busy, the only people who hung out with her were her maids. But her maid Elsa was the one who cared most, she would sit by Mya when she had a nightmare, and make sure Mya never went hungry.
When Mya was six she asked, “Elsa, will you ever leave me?”
Elsa was reading a bedtime story. Elsa smiled. “No, I would never leave you Mya, I swear my life on it.” Mya smiled, she knew that Elsa would now never leave her side.
Years later, when Mya was 15, the news posted that Mya was missing. Everyone went ballistic, her parents refused to talk, saying, “That’s none of your business.”
A few days later a new girl came to Brooklyn High. She was shy, and when she introduced herself she said, “Hi I’m, uhhhhh, Say.” Say had blonde hair and green eyes.
“Haha, your name is a baby name. No one will want to be your friend or even go close to you,” said a boy in the back of class. Say felt ashamed so she just sat down.
At lunch, Say looked around but no one was there. Then she looked at her plain sandwich.
“Hi,” said a girl behind Say. “My name is Emily. The boy who commented on your name was Nathan. He was so wrong about your name, it’s amazing. Is it ok if I sit here?”
Just then, Nathan was coming towards them. “Oh look, it’s the baby Say and her friend, are you planning on making the loser club?”
Say stood up and said, “Actually yeah, but we are not gonna be a part of it, but you should be. You should actually be the leader because you are the biggest loser around.” The room fell dead silent. Say realized the whole cafeteria was watching. She just smiled and sat down to continue eating.
After school Emily went up to Say and said, “Wow, no one has ever thought of putting him in his place like that! You will be a legend, but be warned, people who have stood up to him got in trouble because he has the teachers wrapped around his finger. He twists the story around so it seems that he is the victim, but you have witnesses to prove that you’re innocent.”
Say smiled and said, “My parents taught me to stand up for myself. You should too.”
Nathan around the corner was eavesdropping and whispered to himself “Yeah she’s right, I can’t tell on her. There were too many witnesses. I have to find another way to make her get in trouble.”
The next few days at school were the same except Nathan wasn’t bugging anyone, Nathan was always sitting in the back after his humiliation. But he was planning on what to do. Say, knowing he was planning, kept her head held low, but not her hand. She would raise her hand for every question. Teachers always picked her and she became a teacher’s pet. Nathan during class would always make comments like “Teachers’ pet, always lose the bet,” whatever that meant. When he got a plan, the comments stopped. Say was suspicious that the comments stopped because she always heard him when she was passing by.
One time when the teacher asked her to stay during recess to clean up, Say found Nathan’s notebook. She decided to look through it. On the first page it said in the most beautiful handwriting, “I’m sorry to everyone about how I act, I want everyone to know I’m an orphan, but I can’t tell anyone cuz I’m scared.”
Shocked that Nathan was an orphan, Mya took a pencil and wrote “Sorry that you’re an orphan, I wish you the best.” Mya was so shocked that Nathan was an orphan that she didn’t read the rest of the book. But on the next page was his plan, his plan to follow Say to her home, to reveal a secret, a dark secret.
Fast forward to Friday after school when Say was walking home. She never noticed Nathan right behind her. Nathan saw the home and it was big and amazing. When Say got in, she went right to her room. Nathan found the window to her room and looked inside just enough to see everything. He took out his phone and started recording. He lowered his head so Say couldn’t see his head and he couldn’t see any of the recording until he was done. He saw the recording but when he did he saw Say take off her wig and her makeup. She looked exactly like Mya! He couldn’t believe it, before he knew it he sent the video to social media.
The next day everyone treated Say like royalty because she was. Say didn’t know anything until she looked on her phone. The principal called an emergency assembly to explain the situation that someone must have faked the video but while he was explaining, Say took the microphone and took off all her makeup and her wig. The whole school went crazy.
Say, um, Mya said “I am Mya, and I’m sorry that I lied, it’s true, I’m the princess.” Her voice boomed all over the auditorium. “But I always wanted to be a normal girl.”
She spent an hour giving a speech about how she felt lonely all the time, but when she finished, Nathan also took the mic and said “I want the teachers to know that I have been mean to some kids and I want everyone to know I’m sorry, and the reason I do this is because I am an orphan. My parents thought I wasn’t good enough to be their son, so to cope with the pain, I bully others.”
Silence, absolute silence. But then everyone was cheering, louder than loud.
Mya still went to that school. But, everyone treated her normally, and she was happy.
